The spy element
"I think the element that's been missing from the Bond movies for decades is COOL. In my estimation, Connery was cool; Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan-- not so much. Can't judge Lazenby as he only did the one before quitting.
Casino Royale looks to return the gold standard of cool to Bond for the first time in thirty-six years."
All of the above if i really must answer this question honestly
Its Bonds wit that helps him through these assignments. Moore's Humour is good, but every Bond brings something unique to the role.
The most the movies stay close to the Ian Flemming's novels the best it is. (and why not a Bond back in the 50's)
A quintessential mixture of Bondian action/adventure set against well structured storytelling - like you get in: From Russia With Love, Goldfinger, You Only Live Twice, For Your Eyes Only, Octopussy, The Living Daylights, Goldeneye
I have loved the Bond films, since I was a little girl first seeing Diamonds are Forever. I fell in love with the charactor and the films. Its the whole package that I love and its definitely nice to see a British action hero like Bond. Generations have grown up in the UK watching Bond and loving all there is about the films.
THESE ARE THE TOP THREE
If I was able to pick another besides the 3 I would have to pick humour since Bond is witty and it works for him to be witty in that line of business to lighten the situation at times.
Casino Royale was probably the best plot so far. Too bad the villians didn't make grander appearances. However I suppose it goes with the times.
I'd like to select more.
I dislike the extensive use of the "Bond elements". They're becoming a cliche.
also the recurring items girls gimmicks elements make it familiar
They are classic films for the above reasons.
I wish I had a fourth choice so I could put "Hot Women"
I could have picked any of those.
I love Bond for every option up there, but you've gotta have the action. Other movies have action elements, but nobody does it like Bond. Need an example? Look at Casino Royale. The soundtrack is another element that I love. The James Bond Theme is an incredible piece of work and each composer has developed their own style when using it.
I would like to add action but it is very dependent on the sort of action it is. I am a fan of the realistic action that is in Casino Royale, but I do miss the overblown terrorist organization Spectre. However, invisible cars are stretching it a tad. To me the favorite Bond action moment is when he steals a Russian tank, busts through a wall and chases through St. Petersburg.
What makes them special is the lifestyle, the obsession with details of how to do things (exemplified by the vodka martini). It means that unlike a Jason Bourne or a Batman, someone in the audience can actually do some of the things Bond does.
I could have ticked them all!
all of these things add to the bondness of each episode
The topic speaks for itself.
"Three options are not enough - same goes for previous choices.
"
having recurring characters, keeps the film "together", makes it more believeable as the same characters appear, the cars have always been a Bond institution, and Aston Martin will never be beaten. Action IS Bond
"action packed with a good story line for all ages and sexes
a good english tradition and elegance for the actor"
Alot of the 'special' James Bond themes seem to have been dropped / diluted in recent films. I have a problem with that, and I would rather watch some of the oldies (from Connery to Dalton)
New 'Casino Royale' excels in maintaining scene interest in action scenes, suspense scenes and romance scenes. Very good quality throughout. Does well in limiting flip humour.
I wish they'd label Bond films as Adult only.....too many young kids can see them.
Most the options really
THE VILLIANS AND LOCATIONS ALSO
the main thing that makes them special, to my mind at least, is the fact that they, (with the possible exception of OHMSS), are consistantly good
Attitude of bond
But the last few villains have been weak. Bond needs a real nemesis. No good having Oscar winning Bond Babes when villain lacks star quality.
James Bond is a British Institution and is very well loved. All the possibilities you mentioned go to make James Bond special. Please let me have 5 choices!
The mixture of action and humour are great
I'm glad they have gone back to having a gritty Bond and have reduced the special effects sequences.
Bond is essentially British. He is tough yet elegant. No other country could have invented him.
I found Casino Royale less cheesy than other bond films
please lets have more gimmicks after all most people i know like bond films for t hat reason
perhaps next bond movies, move away from the supervillain and into more meaningful scenarios, like terrorrism, and diamond mining, and environmental issues
I want to choose Humour as well bet not allowed.
Bond pictures are always escapist entertainment which is why we go to the Cinema to watch them, they need to be seen on a big screen.
Bond films wave the British flag and give us Britsish pride
my 11 year old son discovered bond last year, and is now a hugh fan. he has ( and watches) all the films. he loves the cars and the baddies, his dad likes the cars and the girls, i just like the films. something for everyone- who doesnt like a good bond film at christmas. people may moan they're on again, but they still watch them.
Everything about them is just special, from the first utterance of "Bond... James Bond, and you are Miss..." to, "My name is Bond... James Bond".
"Bond is the ultimate hero. It is Bond himself that makes the movies and
Fleming's novels so appealing."
All of the above!
It's hard to pick just three. So much appeals to me in the Bonds.
English tradition? Bond isn't English! Try "British" if you must, but "Scottish" is closer (Scots father, Swiss mother).
the thing I love about James Bond is that you see these films go through every era in the last 45 years. in the 60's, the films were consistantly good. since then, they have been up and down, but i still love them all. (except die another day)
I love the fact that there are individual 21 movies and that each one, despite some being better than others, brings something new to the 'party' without nitpicky continuity concerns ala Star Wars/Star Trek.
That Bondian moment. Like love, you know it when it happens.
Bond is a interesting and strong character. He could easily become a truly evil man but choose to work for the good of his country.
There is a look to a James Bond film that is particular to the series. You know it when you see it and and no other film looks the way they do (as clearly sen in the non-official NEVER SAY NEVER AGAIN). They also had a particular sound, but that has eroded away with the hiring of David Arnold.
Three choices are too litle
