He is just the best
Connery cannot be topped, but Timothy Dalton comes close. I haven't ranked Daniel Craig as I haven't seen Casino Royale yet.
Connery was the best, no one ever came close.
There are only three Bond ACTORS, that's Craig, Connery and Dalton. Out of these three, Craig is the best actor.
Sean set the cinematic standard. However, Craig is proving more than capable of filling Sean's shoes. He may even surpass him in my opinion. We'll have to wait and see!

While I've not seen Casino Royale yet, I feel strongly from the trailers and clips I've seen that Daniel Craig is going to actually surpass Connery for me.
The most realistic Bond might have been Lazenby. I thought I read that he was an Australian commando who taught hand to hand combat? The guy could fight. Not having seen the new Casino Royale, it appears that Daniel Craig is in great shape and looks like he could carry out the rigors of fighting unlike a wimpishly built Roger Moore, or average Brosnan/Dalton. Connery was in good shape for Dr. No but got fat in later movies. I'd think an agent would have to be in superior shape for that kind of duty!
Sir Sean originated the character on film...and gave the rest of the Bond actors a lot to live up to!

The best performance and the most depth with character development. Also one of the best books in the series.
I havent seen DC yet but he become my fav, I don't mind a "Blond Bond", but it would probably take Bonds 21 & 22 for DC to become my fav.
The first, the best
Firstly, we haven't even seen him, but I've got a fantastic amount of hope.
Criag seems to have really grasped Ian Fleming's character, not the cookie cutter character Bond has become. He is the first actor to really challange Sean Connery in the role.
I have yet to see Casino Royale, therefore Daniel Craig could still be a possibility
They are all as good as each other in their own way
It's tough choosing ANYONE over Connery... But Dalton (in The Living Daylights) brought a dark & serious edginess to the character, that I'm hoping to see from Daniel Craig as well.
Daniel Craig scored a perfect shot in Casino Royale, right down the barrel of a gun. He is a great Bond.

Connery, Brosnan, and Craig are all fantastic in the role. I wouldn't be able to decide the best out of the three because I like different aspects of each. Craig has done a wonderful job of filling Brosnan's shoes.

Daniel Craig is much more rugged and raw than the previous Bond's. I previously preferred Connery but after that scene of DC coming out of the sea, I am hooked!

Would have chosen Daniel - film was excellent but with Connery having made so many good films until I see the next I will hold off putting Daniel up there against Connery, but good start with Casino Royale
Craig is a more darker Bond who develops into the character of James Bond, 007. It is the maturation and evolution that Craig portrays that allow subsequent Bond actors to portray the suave and sophisticated agent. However, Craig seems to be more true to the James Bond that Ian Flemming wrote about, an intelligent, powerful, ruthless, and troubled agent who balances his work of killing with his development as a person. Craig delivers an excellent performance by far.
Sean is the favourite but Daniel Craig is hot on his heals
He is a very good actor and gives a light hearted take to the role. The raised eyebrows and the fact he smiles when he sees a seven foot giant with metal teeth is halarious! He brings humour and style to the role of Bond.

Connery was the best since he was the first; he was able to form the character while all the other Bonds have had Connery's big shoes to fill.
Daniel Criag adds a more realistic character to the Bond series - Timothy Dalton acheived it too, but Criag in my opinion is slightly better

I haven't seen Craig in action yet, but I love Dalton's take on Bond.
He had an uphill battle, he fought through it and he did an outstanding job.
Pierce is my favorite because I was introduced to Bond in Goldeneye. I liked his Bond and would have liked for the producers to have made the character more serious before Casino Royale. To me the scripts they put out after Goldeneye were garbage, and wasted a good Bond on sub par scripts.

I had read the books first and when I saw the first film Sean was exactly what I had pictured Bond to be. That has never happened in any other film of a book that I've seen.

I like Roger Moore, I liked the way Moore played Bond with tongue in cheek, which maybe helped alleviate the ridiculousness of one man taking on the world. Although I don't dislike any of the others - the final Pierce Brosnan film was such a disgraceful CGI filled mess that I'm a little reticent to even see and judge the new Daniel Craig movie.

I honestly didn't think a blond Bond would work, but Daniel Craig was brilliant. He had great physicality and also gave the impression of being a real licence to kill agent.
I was tempted to go for someone else just because Connery always wins these polls...but you look back at the films and it's just obvious he deserves to.

More realistic
Quintessentially British, smooth, classy but with a ruthless streak. If I had to picture a Bond in my minds eye (ie never having seen a Bond feature film) Brosnan is exactly the image I would conjure up.
Closest to the original Ian Fleming description in both looks and elegance (Connery looked right but was too uncouth and rough)

Previously my favourite was Timothy Dalton. But after seeing Daniel Craig in the latest Bond film, I believe that he is exactly as Ian Fleming envisaged James Bond to be. He is without any doubt the best James Bond.

Connery set the stage for all Bonds to follow, although Barry Nelson played Bond previously for television. Lazenby had the misfortune to follow the charismatic Connery but actually was closer to the character as depicted in the novels and was more human.
He is closest to the Bond I imaged thanks to reading Fleming's novels!
Daniel Craig is the best actor who have played Bond.
I think it's mainly because he was making Bond films as I was growing up, I don't dislike any of the Bond actors I think they were all superb in their own ways (yes including George Lazenby).
Roger Moore just oozes charisma and sophistication. He knows how to deliver a quip. Of all the Bond actors I believe that Roger Moore enjoyed playing Bond the most, and it shows.

Best Bond performance was in Thunderball.
Each actor was suited to the era that their movies took place in. However, I think Craig captures the character Fleming created better than the others. He is quite believable as an assassin, something I think had gotten lost with the Moore and Brosnan films. As for the blonde aspect of this Bond, his short cropped hair effectively negates the color issue.

I grew up with Sir Sean. But this new fella is nipping at his heels.
They all brought a unique stamp to the charater. Sean is classic. Lazenby tough and resourceful. Moore is a chestnut. Dalton a class act and class actor. Brosnan a smug popcorn Bond that deserved better material. And Craig - the return to the smart Connery era.
His Bond is a man that kills and is very good at it. But theres also a side of him thats just a regular guy like me and you. None of the other Bonds had that

Yes, DC is perfect as Bond. He has portrayed the character in the book perfectly, that is public school, officer material, but yet a ruthless and competative thug (who also has a way the ladies). He is also a brilliant actor so the role carried by DC is more credible and realistic, one can actually get 'lost' in the movie its so good. DC raises the whole tone of the Bond franchise to a dark edgy thriller as opposed to glamorous flashy big budget pulp, and I think his quality performance resulted in the other actors also raising their standards of performance.
He plays the part with ease and looks effortless when he is acting.
